Went to Sg Buloh yesterday. Yes!!!! They have VFTs. There is also 3 forms of Sarracenias available. Not sure about theri names tho'. I think one is S. purpurea. Another might be S. flava. Bought one pot each. Will post some pitcures either tomorrow or the day after. No camera. Gotto borrow.
If you are interested in these plants, you better get them quick as they tend slowly die of in the nursery. The stocks are new and have just arrived from Camerona Highlands.

yess, there're VFTs for sale at sg buloh. yup, they're from cameron. and as david said, they are slowly dying in the nurseries. my fren had bought one and tried to feed it with a fly. unluckily, the trap did not even respond, even after two days.. dunno whether its still in a shock period or what..

Most probably the traps have been activated to often by curious customers and nursery workers.
Each trap on the VFT can only close for a certain number of times. That's why it is not adviseable to play with the traps. It's kinda wicket too lor... Poor fellas have to use so much energy to close the trap and thre is no food. It will tire the plant.
Perhaps you could ask your friend to try this...
There are 3 trigger hairs in each trap. use a toothpick to disturb one of the trigger hairs 3 times. The traps should close after the third time if the traps are still fresh.
This is to prevent the traps from closing when a something drops on it. That way it does not need to waste energy. Only when an insect crawls in will it close as the insect legs would have disturbed the trigger hairs a couple of times when it is crawling in.

The VFT is typical from. It's too green, put it under sunlight to brighen up the colour! The Sarracenia is Purpurea. The 2nd is some kind of Purpurea x venosa, and the 3rd one also purpurea x something. Sarra can be very complex, I'm not a real expert to tell you the actual type. The 1st can get very red and beautiful if it get enough sunlight.
If I were you, I'll repot the whole thing to a new potting media, use 1 : 1 or 2: 1 peat and perlite. After repotting, water it thoroughly from top, place it in bright (but not hot) place for two days, for VFT, place it under direct sun light, VFTs love sunlight, I always did that with no ill effect, they just love it. But put the sarra under partial shade.
Newly bought VFT and Sarra normally potted in sphagnum moss and looked very dry like what you see above, if you don't have time to repot it at the moment, place it in a pot of water to wet the media 'cukup-cukup', after the media is thoroughly wet, place it under sunlight (for VFT, partial shade for Sarra) on a saucer with some water in it. Sphagnum moss get dry out very fast in the hot weather, with this method the water will be sucked up slowly from the bottom of the pot, BUT, don't be too intelligent to put a POT of water (the water level too high) underneath, the hot sun will boil the water and eventually burn the root and kill your plant. Sarracenia can be moved to full sun after a few days of acclimatization.
But it's always advisable to change your potting media to peat and perlite, get an at least 3" deep pot (for VFT, deeper for Sarra), water retain nicely in the peat and don't get dry out too fast, you don't have to place any saucer underneath either. Some time I don't water mine for three to four days, they're still OK. But always keep an eye on them whenever the weather is too hot. Don't water the plant from top during noon or if the temperature is still hot, the hot top layer of soil will warm the water and may harm the root. If you have no choice to water the plant during that time, please water it for a longer period of time to cool down the warm water.
Happy growing.

Thanks for the tips TS. Appreciate it. I have not repotted the Sarracenias yet but they are sitting outside my apartment window and receive a few hours of evening sun. Should be ok you think?
Hmm, gotto find some time to repot them. I think I'll repot them this few days. They are also sitting on trays of water now. So far so good... fingers cross...

Yes, I think the Sarra should be OK sitting outside the window, but get something heavy to get them position, strong wind might tumble your pot as they are planted in sphagnum which is very light.

Your vft didn't get enough sunlight. Put it under full sun to gain the colour.
