I traded some plants with Lim from Penang...this is what I got.... the Ping is a bit bruised but it`ll recover. Notice the little plantlet at the mid right leaf end. Superb, unique ping. Hardy too according to Lim. Grown in the great outdoors : rain, shine, no prob. Unlike my mexican so-sensitive ping. He sells them for rm20 each. The d.binata is awesome. It`s so diff from my spoon shaped (spatulatha), lanced shaped ( adelae), single stalk ( filiformis ).....I`m in love.

You seem to have reasonable sized plants there, but they both look starved of light, especially the binata. For these species, you should aim for as much sun a spossible-full sun if you can.

Tarence, be careful of the media of the Ping you got from the sunday market in Kuching. It looks like a Mexican Ping and they dislike that kind of wet media, unlike the Primuliflora you got from Lim. My advice is to keep it drier or even better, change the media to something with faster drainage like 2 parts perlite, 1 part vermiculite, 1 part peat. Mexican Pings somehow go into "summer dormancy" for us.

Ok I will, thx.....i was procrastinating to change the media coz the ping still looks ok, forgetting of course that I`ve lost quite a few this way.

It looks like some kind of succulent sold together with cacti. Wouldn't know that it's a ping if I happens to see them on sale somewhere... From now on, I'll touch everything that remotely resembles a ping.
Nice plant Tarence.

thx Lisham...i think from pics, it IS a bit difficult to tell some forms of pings from succulents but in real life, the diff is more obvious. Pings leaves are softer and have layers of glue when touched. So yes, you are on the right path if you are gonna touch to identify.

Hi Tarence, just saw your thread. That is a nice ping you have there and if you compare the latest picture after your TLC, the plant is healthier and more robust. Well done man!
