Guys, These are some of the ampullaria varieties that I found in another forum and it has been proven time and again that it's not an exhaustive list yet! If you need reminding why ampullaria is most people's favourite nep, these pictures will remind you why. They are all ampullarias, hard to believe? yes, I find it hard to believe too. Hope these ampullaria beauties will light up your day. Please do not hesitate to post your own pictures of ampullaria too! No worries, I always give people their credit due. It's good to share these photos because these are a credit to their owner's nep growing skills.

Oh Oh got poisoned... what a big collection of poisonous plant you posted, Isaac. That's enough to poison every single one here. Especially the last few pots that showed the whole bunch of pitchers. My jaw is going to be painful for the next few days... Is that giant pitcher real? Can real thing get that big? Quickly call Ripley's Believe It or Not!

Actually should have more varieties of amps but I don't have time to search. Regarding the giant pitcher, yes, this picture was taken by Robert in the home of the giant Raff, almost side by side. But this amp plant is very old and very matured. It could be said that this place is very suitable for neps and thus produces the giant amp and giant raff. Glad you like the pictures! Please share your own pics too. Cheers, Isaac

Lovely pics Isaac. Alas, I only have 2 varieties of n.amp......what would be even more jaw dropping is to see the ground pitchers forming for some of the more gorgeous ones.

The picture before the giant green amp is a variety owned by Robert. It is even more attractive and jaw dropping when you see it. It has 2 types of red colours overlapping each other to form a very striking contrast and this is not the red amp. Rgds, Isaac

Actually how do you know if a red amp is a giant form or not? I only know it if the picthers are really huge like the palm of my hands. Perhaps other would know how to see it. I don knwo la Naj, whether pix 5 is giant or not.

Hi everyone,
From what I learn from one of the Malesiana staff - he was with Chien Lee previously, the N.ampullaria (Giant Red) will have a striped peristome with all red pitcher. N.ampullaria is having the most colourful pitchers -Red speckled on green background, all green, green speckled on red background, hot lip (green with red peristome), Harlequin, Cantley red, green speckled with red peristome, William red - most expensive plant from BE (L size USD225) etc.
Most of the N.ampullaria in my website is personal collection. A few of them started to produce basal pitchers - from my experience N.ampullaria can tolerate a dryer media and they produce even faster basal pitchers in this condition.
Fauzi.

Hi Fauzi,
Thanks for sharing your experience.
Logically, it make sense that dryer media encourages basal pitchers because if the roots is not able to draw water from the ground, then it will try to grow basal pitchers to contain and store rain water.
Does my wild theory sounds logical? LoL.
Rgds, Isaac

Such an array of ampullarias. I hope we can all flower them and make ampullaria crossbreeds. While we may not have the very dark mottled one from seed or the hot lips, we definitely will have something interesting from the lot!
One of my goals is to make seeds from as many clones of ampullarias as possible. Even greens can produce some interesting types too!
