Step 1
Confirm the plants you want to buy with the seller, eg: Wistuba, Borneo Exotics and Exotica Plants. If possible get a performa invoice that gives you the seller address and the total price you are paying.

Form PQ(8) front and back





Step 2
Head to the nearest Plant Quarantine Services Division of Dept of Agriculture near you. For those in Kuala Lumpur, it is located at Jalan Gallagher (near Parliament House). Fill up PQ(8) and make the relevant payment. It cost you RM15 per species. The DOA will probably ask you to come back next day to collect the import permit.

Step 3
Send a copy of the import permit PQ18 and an attachment to the import permit detailing phytosanitary requirements to the seller along with payment (that is if you are not paying by credit card). Then wait. Usually within a week or less. To satisfy phytosanitary requirements the plants are usually sent bare root. Along with the shipment is a phytosanitary certificate and an export permit/license (comply with CITES II) from the seller DOA.
