Introducing few of the bulbous base Tillandsias with different sizes and leaf forms. Some are host to ants, some are truely succullent while others simply look bizzare with thick fuzzy trichomes. They preffer bright lights to full sun tolerant plants, less watering at well ventilated area. Popular among caudiciform collectors. bulbosa_miniature form. caput medusae hybrid_large succulent heavy plant disticha_green 'onion looking' plant ehlersiana_true form. I call this 'tennis ball'. Roundish with hairy leaves. seleriana. Seleriana hybrids streptophylla_have curly leaves. broad leaf form.

Tillycoll......my collection is only a modest one with particular interest in bulbous Tills. That's why there are so many pictures in this thread! I still could't get it right for the caput medusae hybrid. Definetely it has caput_medusae genes in it. But with a size of 2' from the base to leaf tip is too large for caput-medusae. The question of its' parentage still get unsolved!

Hi Andy,
I need some lesson in Till jargon here. What is "caudiciform collectors"? Is it collectors who love bulbose tills? Hmm, looks like I might be one. I seem to be attracted to tills like these.
Is ehlersiana considered a "white" till or "green" till? How much sun does it need?
I like the third picture of the Seleriana hybrid and the streptophylla broad leaf. Nice plants. How big can they get?

David, "caudiciform collectors" simply means a collector who collect plants that have caudex base or broad base plants like adenium or pachypodium. This also includes in part of Tillandsia species which have broad base. Unfortunately thesr broad base plants could not grow to become huge plants. Otherwise this will be very showy!! Seleriana or streptophylla can only reach up to 8" dia to maximum size. Ehlersiana is about the same too. It needs full sun to partial shade. to grow well and of course to develope those huge broad base. It doesn't want to get wet too often though.
