Mpenglee, your bro. is a fanatic allright! Can see plenty of stuff he has there. Some stemaria, bifurcatum hybrids, perhaps a holttumii and ofcourse very outstanding grande there. Also plenty of coronarium seedlings. Did he grew them from spores?? I'm also a platy. fanatic and glad to find another fanatic. Can I consult your brother as "sifu" then......

Hi mpenglee,
Where is this place? I am from Ipoh too, can I visit too?
Very nice stags pictures, much more than any nurseries that I've been to.

i didn't want to bore you guys with pics that look the same to me. but here's some more larger photos. this plants are in my parents house with has a very big garden area. this old house was built by the by the british even has a chimney! i think even the new bungalow in bdr kinrara would have a smaller land area than our old house. most smaller plants are from spores. i know he bought a veitchili from oversea by mail order the rest are all local. on some weekends, he'll pack a few into his van drive to teluk batik, have picnic and sell a few stags. how many species is there really in the pics?

From what I see in the pictures and if I'm not mistaken, they are all seedlings if coronarium. Must say your brother got hundreds of them of not by thousands! WOW!!! Very crafty!!

i don't think he has a catalogue. but if you can roughly indicate to me (from the pics) which one you all are interested in i can ask him at price he will sell. but i think he won't sell the big ones though but no hard asking if you are interested. i can probably get more detail pics pf the ones you are interested in.

Hi mpenglee, thanks for the pictures. Love them. So far I have only one as I stay in an apartment... space problem.
Perhaps you can start a new thread in the buy/sell or stuff to exchange section and see who is interested. I bet there'll be members here who are interested.

maybe i'll do that later. but i need to snap pictures of each type in his collection and make something like a "catalogue" of plants for sell/trade so interested members can see/choose what they want.
he call me up last night to tell me that he has 16 types in his collection and not 8-9 type that he earlier told me. if i'm my memory is correct, i read somewhere that there is only 20+ types in the whole world?

just came back from my weekend holidays. managed to snap some closeup of some teens platys just before i left. unfortunately my bro was not around at that time so i didn't manage to get him to show me all the different types available for sale/trade.
i think i manage to get about 4 types in the photos.
pls see the photos in the market place forum. if you are looking for smaller ones or bigger ones. do let me know, i'll take more pics next time.

Those species with the wide base frond needs higher light and those seen near ground level needs to get up higher. These can also dry out a bit as they tend to get rots easily. P. wallichii, wandae, coronarium, grande, superbum and to an extent ridleyi. The difficult species include N. madagascariensis and quadridichotomum. These require very diffuse bright light and daily wetting and near drying experiences. These actually grow better when intermingled with other ferns and other epiphytes mixing their roots with possibly a symbiotic fungi.
