Does anyone know where there is an orchid specialist nursery or source for orchid species in Malaysia? I am really looking for some specific types of orchids, one namely is Vanda sanderiana, but all I can ever find are hybrids or other common orchids. So anyone know any specialist nurseries, website, or other places that would cater to an orchid species collector?

Zakhren...you can try sri kembangan area......there`s a pretty decent nursery there....
Directions: Take Bkt jalil expressway like you are coming to my house. Go straight pass Bkt Jalil, pass Astro. Go straight until you reach the roundabout. Take right turning ( it`s a 3 prong roundabout )..follow the round down & pay toll rm1.30...go straight on.....you`ll pass some turn offs to Banting, Balakong etc and also Minlon building, go straight. Pass 1st flyover.....before the 2nd flyover, keep left and before it, turn left into a small dirt road....you`ll see a Hindu temple...the nursery is further up on the left....the lady there knows her orchids well...just mention the name of the variety & she`ll tell u whether it`s there or not.
Do watch out for the dogs...they are either tied up or in cages but they`ll bark at you...pretty harmless, used to go there with Rozzan....
The other orchid nursery i know is in Batu Arang.....take the highway heading towards Rawang....when you exit at the toll plaza, take the left turn to Batu Arang....drive for about 10 mins & you`ll see the nursery on the right at a road bend. It`s very big & well-organised, even tourist buses go there during the weekends. They were one of the exhibitors at Floria.
Zan...any others you know ?

Thank a lot guys! I was just having so much trouble finding a proper orchid nursery. The ones at Sungai Buloh are nice, just not as good as I'd like. Most of their plants aren't even labeled... I still have this week off, I will be visiting these places hopefully soon. More places still appreciated

There are two near your place. One near HiCom GlenMarie, another one along Subang Airport Road towards Sungai Buloh, at the left hand side just less then a Km from the T-junction where you turn right to Sungai Buloh. These two are very big orchid nurseries and exporters.

That rawang orchid nursery terence talked about is actually the same booth that sells orchids in front of bird park close to orchid park in tmn tasik perdana. I believe u can find V. sanderiana there as they got so many kind of vanda to offer plus plants are healthy as well. Da one near Hicom Glenmarie had moved to rawang and is actually the same nursery terence talked about. along the road of subang airport to sg buloh there are a few nursery but i do not prefer those as most plant they got are not so healthy..

Haha I found it finally! AND they had Vanda sanderiana ;D. There was one growing on a tree with an offshoot so the woman there sold me that. Bit pricey but it had big healthy leave and the flowers, although already dying it looked like nice big flowers. What was impressive is as soon as I saw her I asked if she had Vanda sanderiana and she was like "yes got" immediately, and walked though the Thousands! of orchids in her huge nursery and led me and my bro directly to the orchid. I was really suprised that she knew so much. She even said most nurseries will try and sell you a hybrid (which is true lol) and that she will sell me a real one from the Philippines (which is actually where the orchid is from). I really have to recommend this place. This is the one directly after the Minlon building on the left

Zakhren, Yes, this is a true vanda sanderiana. I went to the nursery before. Bought it as well. I hope the price has dropped...? The nursery is called Serdang Orchid. If you are interested in Vanda, let me know.
