This is the only jewel orchid I have...got it about 3 weeks ago & I finally know the conditions are ok for it when it sprouted a new leaf 3 days ago. Yay....wish to get more especially the greenish ones.

Hi Tarence, what medium are you using?

Robert : I`m using peat moss topped with spaghnum.....i think the medium should be more porous than this but is seems to work so I think i`ll stick to it. I was afraid that the plant would rot if the water retention qualities of the peat moss was too much but well.....it seems to be okay. Wilson says to use charcoal chips.

Careful if using peat moss. It can melt easily, don't put any plate under it. Yours seems to be doing well.
I'm using coral, wood chips and fern root mixed.

I wanted to try jewel orchids too. There were two pots for sale in Sg Buloh, but I didn't get them because I wasn't sure if they could still grow (the roots were blackened and leaves with holes eaten by snails)
