Does anyone here grow any of the ant ferns? Can I see some pics and perhaps some cultivation info? I'm looking to get one, but they're all at least $30, and I don't want to buy one unless I know I can provide for it. Basically, I'd need one that can grow with LL temps.

i grow ant ferns (lecanopteris luzonensis, sinuosa, lomarioides). Does well in the heat of manila. Mine does better if mounted on wood rather than tree fern slab. merlin

Thanks for the info. I'll look around and see if I can find one for a decent price.

I grow mine mounted to tree bark or fern roots. I add a layer of sphagnum moss as media for the roots to get hold on to before mounting the plants. Or possibly you can plant it in the same media as you are using for your hydno. I only have lecanopteris sinousa ( the only sp which is doing well here! ) and here's some picts of it.

Hey, for those interested in ant ferns (Lecanopteris) and ant plants I just came across this nursery in the Philippines that has some interesting stuff; www.pinoyplants.com/ferns.php#selaginella_sp1I just returned from a trip into the rainforest in South-Central Thailand where I saw trees completely covered in them, but far too high for photos!
