For any experienced Malaysian sibuyanensis grower, please tell how do you guys grow sibuyanensis in our climate.

i just grow mine in the garden. morning sun. wet at nite to make it cool.make sure the forming pitcher tendril touches something for the pitcher to form. i have 2 pitchers so far. had the plant for about 10 months.

No i didn't buy yet.Just want to confirm if it can grow in our climate.Tarence, you say that it much touch something to form pitcher so will the tendril grow untill the tendril touches something if i hang it up in my balcony or what?

Out of topic, but did you guys know that the big tragedy of the ferry sinking in the Philippines happened right off the island of Sibuyan (where the name Sibuyanensis came from)? The Typhoon went through the island too of course but I dont' think the nepenthes species will be of much danger, it is a shame of all those that died in that ferry disaster though.  TTFN Arvin |

The tendrils don't absolutely have to touch something to form pitchers. I think it might be more probable, or accelerate the process, but it is not a requirement. I've seen some nice, good sized sibuyanensis pitchers on pitcherplants that were known to not have rested on anything.

phissionkorps : agree, it does seem to accelerate the pitcher formation but it is not essential . but i`ve had tendrils which absolutely had nothing happening to them shoot out pitchers when i `placed` it on some medium. but yes, i did not really monitor the plant carefully to verify the results. of late, i noticed that ALL the tendrils which i placed on a nearby pot`s medium are pitchering. i`ll try to post pics....
