Hi choong , I am here at last . From what i see regarding highland nepenthes is like this. Micheal grows his plants on windy area. Wind factor plus water evaporation actually creates cooling effect, it does cool down the plants awhole lot even though your themometer does not show so . The full sun factor helps the plants to make alot of food with the help of the fertiliser, so during the night it just need a little energy to use the food up for through respiration. Unless you have windy situation constantly plus full sun then you can grow like Micheal does. IF highland nepenthes can grow in the humid lowland you would have seen many Sanguinea growing with Gracilis or any other lowland Nepenthes. IF the highland can spread throughout the whole peninsular range i don't see any reason why it can spread downwards towards the lowland. Well anyway this is just my opinion my veitchii x emyea did pretty well though in the lowland ... ;D

Hi northaina, I think you're right. I don have many highlanders and are not very experience with them. I only ventricosa, sibuyanansis and sanguinea. However, I noticed when I place my verntricosa outside my apartment window, it does very well for me. It's very windy and it gets full sun a few hours a day. When it was indoors at the same window, it just refuses to grow. By the way, would you mind introducing yourself in the member introduction section? Would like to get to know you better.

Jeffery you don't need to on the fan for 24 hours its only during the night time maybe ard 5 hours a nite. Use gentle speed will do but make sure the plants has good system and well watered before doing this . Make sure the medium will be dried up by the morning time. If you find the medium still wet by the morning means your medium is not right for this treatment. I would suggest you get those water evaporator fan sold at most shopping centre . Get those made in Japan as they are more reliable. On it to gentle breeze and blow you plants with it for few hours at nite .The evaporation effect is very cooling to the plants. Hope this help
