That's a lovely and healthy plant you have there. By the way, what media are you using? Looks like sphagnum peat moss and perlite. Looks a little too compact and soggy. Might not be good for the plant in the long-run.

Agreed. You should pot it in an airier mix. Something like fir bark, charcoal, perlite, and a maybe a pinch of peat depending on how much you're going to water.

Congratulations laxgoal on your first Nep. I too bought the same mikii from cooks, and while he shipped a nice healthy plant, the growing medium was the same as yours and much too compact for this plant. I washed it all off and used my normal Nepenthes mix...you should do the same. I'm surprised that as long as he has been in the cp business he still ships plants potted this way.

ok, thanks! All I have available is 50% peat, 50% pearlite right now....
What would be an easy mix to attain...?

are you using a incandescent light or a compact floro? incandescent light is no good for plant growth.

for now even a mix of orchid bark and perlite would be better than what you have, mixed with no more than 8% peat. Try to get pumice, shredded fir or cedar bark, charcoal, and perlite as your main mix.

I just found out that they guy who runs cascade carnivores lives a few miles from me, I think i'll go to him and get his mix. It sounded like exactly what was recommended.

the daytime temp is about 75, and the nightime drops to about 60-65, is this suitable?
