Dear all, After a year, my first finally flowers and produce some decent size pitchers. The Plant  The Flowers. Are they female?  The Pitchers.   Unopened Pitcher  Thinking of cutting the flower stalk off this evening to promote vegetative growth. |

Why not pollinate it? Cutting the flower stalk off would be a waste, besides, your N. Gracillis is already very tall.

Don't know what they are, got two leaves from a friend's pond. Now I am clearing my little pond weekly, crearing enuf mulch to plant nep already.
Pollinating it? This girl is looking for a date, no prince charming around to sweep her off her feet. Actually I don't mind marrying her to someone. Will she be too old by the time the pollen arrives?

If you get pollen for it, you need to get it like...NOW. Most of those flowers already have the sepals folded back, which usually indicates that they are no longer receptive to pollen.

Whoa, thats a weird analogy.  Kinda startled me there. You might as well try to get some pollen right away. No reason to let the flower go to waste, especially since it's a female. |

Looks like the flowers are going waste. Will have to cut them off this evening as I don't have the time to hunt for pollen. Anthene just cut her male flowers off last week- so too late. Don't know anyone with pollen now. Maybe next round.
Will sound out earlier next round. I wasn't too sure whether they plant was a male or female earlier on.
Marigold, sorry to have startled you. My wife and I was just using that analogy to describe the flowers this morning.

I didn't tell you that day that my N. Fusca x N.maxima(male) is also flowering. I suppose I forgot to chop it off along the other flowers - lucky you I guess!
I see if I can get some pollen tomorrow, shall we meet for coffee?

Why need to chop of the flowers?Wont it look good on the plant till it dries or decays?

By cutting off the flowers, energy channeled to the flowers and be used for vegetative purpose. Works for other my plants.
