on the day received from Naj 17 May 2007 'Makan Semut' on 25 May 2007 29 May 2007 3 August 2007 In the beginning, the plant was growing quite well, traps becoming very gorgeous pinkish red. Then I noticed that it looked like it was a bit cramped in the pot, so I re-potted. Big mistake! It started to wilt and some leaves begin to rot the very next day. So I moved it back into the original pot (which is not the tiny pot it came in) and prayed very hard that I didn't kill the plant. Thank god, it looks a lot better now, though not much to shout about in size since I trimmed the blackened (dead?) clumps. Hope it will grow well now.

VFT Typical Green from David Arrived on 25 May 2007 23 June 2007 - the day it wallop a whole spiky catterpillar ('ulat bulu')! Yup, the trap rotted & blacken, so I snipped it off. 3 August 2007

Hi Athene, I read from some articles that although VFT 'eats' ants, they will suffer side effects of the trap to turn black. I feed my VFTs with some kind of worm that i bought from a fish shop. Well, i think its not really a worm, its a larvae bcos it has legs. So far, no side effects with my VFTs.

Try catching flies for your vft Athene.....they seem to love that the most. I only feed my VFTs with flies..they seem to grow faster with that diet. I`m not sure about Naj`s worms/ larvae coz I haven`t tried but it does sound nutritious. Naj: it`s that light brown colour wriggler rite ? with a black beak/mouth which looks like it could give us a nasty bite ? scary....i bought those for my neps & sarracenias before but i`m not sure if it`s the same one you suggested.
I read from a post somewhere else that this chap put some smelly fish in his garden....then he puts his pots of vfts around the smelly fish. Soon flies were swarming all over the fish & as they stopped to rest of the vfts, they were quickly snapped.
Perhaps we could use our salted fish ( ikan masin ) to attract flies then catch them by using a fish net ? I relied on my dog previously for help...but well, he`s not around anymore so have to think of other ideas. My vfts are getting hungry.
