Hi,
Nice Picture! Your plant is doing fine. Usually, when VFTS die, they go all at once and rather quickly. Thus, if your plant were seriously ill, it would die all at once in a matter of 3 to 4 days. A healthy VFT will alway have at least one or two traps that turn brown. As long as your VFT gets plenty of sun and the soil is keep moist not soaking wet, you should be okay. Only use distilled water and a soil mix of Peat Moss, Perlite and Silica sand. I hope this helps and congratulations on a great plant! Giovanni

Did you give it full sun? But which part of BM you stay? I am from Taman Sri Rambai. Near Jit Sin.

Your VFT is looking nice, I don't know why other member's VFTs have long and tall leaves like that, mine are all flat and don't grow tall like that. I have Lim to thank for my recent VFTs. Actually after I got my VFTs home from Lim, about maybe 2 months after the new traps were having slightly reddish color, compared to the old ones that were mostly green. So just keep them in good full sun and observe after a few months. TTFN Arvin

Place the VFTs in direct sun for the whole day, they will gain back red colouration in no time. But some red VFTs from Cameron won't turn back total red as when bought. The difference in the day & night temperature in the lowland is simply not enough for the red colouration to appear. Arvin, VFTs grow long and upright leaves in summer and ground hugging pattern with broad petiole in spring and fall, but there are a few cultivars/forms that grow ground hugging or upright all year round. In the tropic, we see them ground hugging in cooler months (rainy season), and upright pattern in hot months.

How long have you been putting it under direct sun? If it gets enough direct sunlight, you'll see the new leaf become narrower and eventually grow upright. How many hours of direct sun your VFT is getting? I believe what we see now is caused by the recent weather, the poor VFTs are confused now by the weather, get real hot for a few hours and turned very cooling quickly due to rain. I think those who grow them under artificial lighting get less effect on the condition change. Some of my VFTs are having very broad petiole too, and something wierd had happened. Will try to snap some pictures to show here.

The newly produced leaves looks like getting smaller and smaller, it might gone dormancy already. Reduce the watering and don't leave it on the water tray. Water when the top layer of media gets dry. Or I'll normally weighing the pot with hand by lifting it up, if the pot is light, meaning it's time to add water, I put the whole pot in a big pot with water in it and let the water suck up from the bottom, place it back to the original place and let it drain by itself.
